On Friday, June 16, 2017, Thomas E. Jacobs earthly journey was cut short after a brief battle with cancer, in the loving comfort of his home in Keene, with his family at his side. When this journey ended, a new future began.

He was born to Edward and Katherine (Palumbo) Jacobs in June of 1950 in Lawrence, MA. He was a member of the first class to graduate from the Lawrence Regional Vocational Technical School, in 1969. While in school he excelled both academically and as an athlete. He was an excellent Basketball player and received many awards for his accomplishments. He went on to attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, graduating in 1972, and earned a degree in Engineering.

Imagination and a sense of endless adventure were two things that drove him throughout his life. He always showed an amazing passion, no matter what he was working on. His creativity and enthusiasm were present in the various aspirations he set out on. To complete his magnificent journey he joined his life and his heart with his dearest love, Jeanann Rivers Jacobs on September 29, 2002. The two of them traveled the world together and pursued their love of visiting far away places. They restored a home together in Keene and were very active in the community.

Tom volunteered at Cheshire Medical Center and enjoyed bringing humor and joy to those he met each day. He was also a member of the Jerusalem Masonic Lodge 104 in Keene and was very proud of this accomplishment. For many years he owned and operated Computer Town in Salem, NH which was among the Top 500 Business to watch. In 2000 he and his wife opened a specialty market and restaurant in Raymond, New Hampshire now known as Tuckaway Tavern & Butchery. Technology and food were something that he was passionate about and he was gifted at working with both.

Tom enjoyed surrounding himself with nature: going for walks and riding his bicycle were two of his favorite past-times. He also enjoyed animals, especially his dog Moose. He felt that it was important to not only be a part of and enjoy nature but to also add to it's beauty. Perhaps this is why he and his wife planted a tree in Costa Rica, on a trip they took there, and also why his family will plant a Sugar Maple tree in his memory. Being a family man, he loved dividing his time between coasts exploring California & Florida with his wife and two daughters.

He leaves behind a strong legacy, values he instilled in his children of hard work and compassionate service and an unwavering love for family. He leaves his wife: Jeanann R. Jacobs of Keene, two daughters: Jennafer Higgs and her husband Michael of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Jodi Jacobs of Los Angeles, CA, his brother: Frank Jacobs and his wife Grace of Derry, NH, his sister: Janet Jacobs of Lowell, MA, several nieces, nephews and many cousins that he shared a special bond with.. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children: Carlyne Jacobs of Derry, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard Church, Main Street, Keene, NH on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 12pm. Family and friends are invited to call on the family Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5 to 7pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Home Healthcare & Hospice Services of Keene, P.O. Box 564, Keene, New Hampshire 03431
