Susan L. (Mitchell) Wells, 60, a long-time resident of Keene, NH passed away, surrounded by her loving family at the Keene Center Genesis on Friday, June 16, 2017 following a courageous battle with ALS.

Her journey into life began on October 4, 1956, in Keene. Susan was the daughter of Wilbur and

Dorothy (Hamlin) Mitchell. She attended Brattleboro schools and graduated from Brattleboro

Regional High School in 1974. Susan went on to earn a degree in Business from Franklin Pierce University. On January 7, 1978 she married the love of her life: Steven E. Wells; the couple moved to Keene in 1981

For more than twenty years Susan worked for the Monadnock Radio Group; working her way from sales associate to General Sales Manager. She was able to share her compassion for the Community through her work at MRG by helping to launch several fundraisers and events in the area, including: "Feed A Friend", "The Women's Expo", "A Taste of Home" and many more. Susan was proud to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross, United way, be on the Board for Cedarcrest, and participate in many other community support organizations.

Although she devoted so much of her time to helping the community Susan was equally as devoted to her family. Being a loving wife, mom, NaNa and YaYa, brought her the utmost joy. Hosting gatherings for the holidays, friends or simply for a football game allowed Susan to provide loved ones with a full belly, and heart. When it came to baking, Sue made the best apple pie and buck-eyes anyone had ever tasted!

Following many months of confusion, doctor's visits, and taking every bit of advice she could from medical professionals, Susan's abilities declined to the point of needing significant care. Although it was a frightening turn for Sue, over the past few months, she found a home among the community of Keene Center Genesis. Susan became very close with the staff there and was able to continue to share with them the same love, compassion and beautiful spirit she has always had; she and her family are very grateful for the care and support the staff showed to Sue; the staff at Keene Center Genesis had an amazing way of helping Sue to never lose her dignity.

In honor of Susan's zest for life and her bright smile, friends and family who attend her services are invited to wear bright colors: Through this gesture, her bright spirit will live on.

She is survived by her husband: Steven Wells of Keene, two daughters: Brandie Wells-Roof and her husband Kyle of Surry, NH, Alicia (Wells( Dostilio and her husband Sol of Westbrook, ME , six grandchildren: Mackenzie, Madelyn, Mallory, Marshall, Silas and Simone, her brother: Timothy Mitchell and his wife Elena of Hinsdale, NH and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held at the 1?st? Congregational Church UCC in Swanzey, NH on

Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10am. Family and friends are invited to call on the family at the church on Tuesday, June 20?th? from 5 to 7pm.
