Alice Mason 82, of Union Street, Keene. NH, passed away on November 26, 2016 at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, NH.

If Alive were able to be here to speak to the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home, she would thank everyone in person. Not only for what they did for her and her family, but, for what they do for all patients and their families everyday.

Alice was born in Green River, Vermont at the home of her grandparents. She was the daughter of Walter and Mary Bowen. She grew up in Halifax, Vermont and went to local schools.

A love for others, found Alice's life surrounded in the care of many, not only her own family, but as a foster mother. She loved all the children that came into her home in their time of need. To this day, many of them still reach out to her and Roger by phone, cards, and letters. They will all forever be with her.

Not only did she take care of children, she was also a care provider to handicapped adults through Living Networks Corporation. Several of the people that she cared for predeceased her. She participated in their care to the very end of their lives. She missed each one, as they were family to her.

Through all of the years of opening their home to so many others, she and her husband Roger, shared the responsibilities and the joy together. They both considered each person to be their family.

Alice and Roger shared their 66th wedding anniversary together on November 25, 2016, at the Maplewood Nursing Home. He was at her side, holding her hand until her passing on November 26th at 7:20AM. Also with her was their son, Douglas Mason, and daughter, Valerie Alther, their daughter Lorraine Patria arrived from Florida shortly after her passing.

Alice was a very creative lady and many people have beautiful memories of her creativeness. Especially, of the many cakes that she made for people. The most favorite being chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting!

Alice will be greatly missed by her husband, Roger Mason, of Keene, NH; son, Douglas Mason of St. Albans Bay, Vermont; daughter, Lorraine Patria of Winter Garden, Florida; and especially her daughter, Valerie Alther, of Keene, who has been by Alice's side since the onset of Alzheimer's Disease for about six years.; several grandchildren, Lenora, Travis, Christine, Jennifer, Carla, Alisha and Destinee, will also miss her; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She has five siblings living in the Keene area, Russell Bowen, Leslie Bowen, Alta McQuestion, Anita Lake and Freda Goodell.

On November 28th, at the Keene Senior Center in Keene, there was a celebration of Alice's life. Many people came to show love and support for each other and to especially show her husband, Roger, how much they cared and loved them both.

Alice will be put to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester, NH with many other family members that passed before her.

All three of Alice's children and her husband, Roger, would like the world to know that Alice was one of the smartest people on earth because she always knew that the most important job of any adult was to put children first, care for them, and maker sure they are always safe!

We love you and will always miss you!

And, please, if anyone would like to make a donation to Alzheimer's research please do it in her name. It is a TERRIBLE disease that not only affects the patient but the loved ones of the patient, and they all suffer for many YEARS because of this horrible illness.
